The Cape Town Fynbos Experience® is an immersive sensory discovery of South Africa's indigenous gourmet herbs unique to the Cape Floristic Region at the southern tip of Africa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Just 75km northeast of Cape Town, tucked within a private Wellington estate, the Cape Town Fynbos Experience® unfolds as a journey of the senses, imagination and origin. Led by South African Fynbos® founder, Giselle Courtney, this intimate tasting translates rare and ancient flavours into a contemporary culinary experience.
Within a botanical cellar curated with rare Fynbos species, each novel flavour and fragrance becomes an exploration. Guests are guided through the subtle chemistry of indigenous botanicals, discovering nuanced flavour profiles, creative pairings and the culinary artistry that elevates wild plants into gourmet cuisine. Ancient Fynbos herbs, with their unparalleled aromatic and medicinal qualities, offer an experience unlike any other - a reminder of what it means to be deeply connected to nature.
The experience continues with a scenic stroll across the estate’s Swartland renosterveld - a sanctuary for critically endangered flora, allowing guests to witness these extraordinary botanicals in situ. Lunch is an experimental tapas accompanied by the complete South African Fynbos® range of seasonings and botanical infusions.
Participants leave not only with an enriched palate and profound sensory impressions, but also with the pioneering South African Fynbos® Flavour Wheel, seeds and fresh botanical samples to press and curate a home herbarium - a personal archive of origin.
